St. Patrick’s Day is a celebration of all things green and Irish culture. That got us thinking about our own ExPürtise products. We were feeling lucky and decided to highlight some of our favorite green colored skincare ingredients – the Certified Organic variety, of course.

Cucumber is a wonderful green skincare ingredient rich in vitamin A, vitamin C and vitamin K; a particularly effective trio when it comes to battling dark circles. Cucumber soothes and softens making it an ideal choice for those with sensitive skin. It’s also a source of anti-inflammatory compounds.

Is your skin tired and damaged? Reach for a refreshing Gotu Kola. All jokes aside, Gotu Kola is a green herb known to enhance circulation, speed healing and minimize scarring of damaged tissue. It improves the look of cellulite, provides support for connective tissue such as collagen and helps to preserve skin’s natural moisture barrier. Gotu Kola is one of the most effective, natural anti-aging skincare ingredients.

The next ingredient is probably best known as a seasoning for delicious chicken and oven-baked potatoes, but this ingredient is also used in skincare applications to assist in moisturizing and fending off free radicals. Rosemary is a green skincare ingredient that can even support collagen development. Throughout history this wound healer has been used in natural medicine due to its anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties. Rosemary can even be beneficial to skin suffering from dermatitis, eczema and acne.

Would you believe there’s an extract capable of banishing bacteria, pummeling parasites, fighting fungus and reducing wrinkles? There is. This green ingredient is known as Noni Extract. Several studies have confirmed Noni stimulates the immune system, has anti-cancer benefits and also works as a topical pain reliever. As a skincare ingredient, Noni Extract helps to reduce appearance of fine lines and wrinkles while increasing skin firmness and elasticity.

Then of course there’s Green Tea. The rock star of green skincare ingredients, Green Tea is an antioxidant packing, free radical annihilating, anti-inflammatory for the skin. There is evidence that topical application of Green Tea Extract prevents the breakdown of collagen and is able to reduce UV damage, making this ingredient a great addition to any skincare formula.

March is an excellent month to think about some of the green ingredients used in skincare. This St. Patrick’s Day be sure to wear some green on your face. However, you might still get pinched because the extracts of these ingredients aren’t really all that green in color after all.
